H. and Jane (Eldridge) Deal, whose sketch appears in this work; George T. attended school until about 20 years of age, at which time he entered the store of his father, where he remained five years; during this time, he had entire charge of the business; at the expiration of this time, the father sold out, and our subject then assisted in the mill, owned by his father and James Hughes, in Sweetwater; in July, of 1870, he went to Chicago, and was, for some six months, in the employ of Wood Bros., live-stock commission merchants; since that, he has been engaged in buying and shipping hogs and cattle. He was united in marriage with Mary. J. Pickrell, Dec. 2, 1873; she was born in Fleming Co., Ky., June 15, 1851; they have one child -- Lizzie, born Sept. 4, 1874.
