Nora A. Scoggins was born in this city March 13, 1877. She was married to Phillip Green in 1899. Her death occurred December 14, 1917, aged 40 years, 9 months and 1 day. Her entire life was spent in this community. She was the mother of nine children, seven of whom, two boys and five girls, are living, deprived of a mother's love and care. One child died at the age of eight years, the other in infancy. Besides her husband and children she leaves to morn her departure her mother and six brothers and one sister, Samuel, Harry and Rollin Scoggins, of Granite City, Oscar, of Palmyra, Luther and Eugene, of Greenfield, and Mrs. Clara Witt, of this vicinity. For the past seven years she had been in poor health, nevertheless her death was sudden and unexpected and a great shock to her relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church on Saturday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. W. P. Gibson being in charge. The interment took place in Oakwood cemetery.
