Della Allen

Della M. Allen, 83, formerly of Kane, died at 9:25 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14, 1993, at Jerseyville Care Center.

The daughter of the late Herbert and Haseltine (Coates) Cope was born Feb. 12, 1910, in Alton.

She was a licensed practical nurse and beautician at Boyd Memorial Hospital for 20 years and was a member of Kane Methodist Church. She was a past worthy matron of the Elizabeth Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Kane and the Royal Neighbors of America.

She married James Reuben Allen in Carrollton on Nov. 10, 1926. He died Jan. 26, 1974.

Surviving are a son, James E. Allen of Carrollton; a granddaughter, Sherry Wise of McLeansboro; and a great-grandson, Adam Wise of McLeansboro.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; two sisters, Viola Wyly and Muriel Bridges; and four brothers, William, Truman, Clarence and Clem Cope.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1993, at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. The Rev. Dorothy Fellhauer officiated. Organist was Diane Wolfley. Pallbearers were Richard Reno, Bob Burch, Buddy Cope, Mike Kinser, James Kinser, Darris Wise and Adam Wise. Burial was at Jalappa Cemetery near Kane.

Memorials maybe made to Kane Methodist Church or the Leukemia Guild.
