BORLIN CEMETERY OBITUARIES



ANDERSON, WILLARD S.

Willard S. Anderson, 82, of Carrollton died at 9:54 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, 1994, at Boyd Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was born in Woodville Township April 11, 1912, the son of Sigle and Rosa (Rice) Anderson. He married Alice Benton Dec. 25, 1933, in Winchester, and she survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Alice, are two daughters, Wanda Voss of Alton and Jane Hopper of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sons, Paul Anderson of Eldred and the Rev. Ray Anderson of Hamilton, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Cecil Hamel of Carrollton and Arlene Apple of East Alton. Preceding him in death were a son, Gerald Anderson; two brothers, Harry Anderson and Emmert Anderson; and two sisters, Nellie Lozier and Reba Nolan.

A member of Believer's Baptist Church in rural Carrollton, Mr. Anderson had served as a Borlin Cemetery trustee for more than 50 years. Friends called Monday at Believers Baptist Church, southwest of Carrollton, where services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday with church paster Clyde Myers officiating. Pianist Betty Green accompanied Pastor Myers and his wife Virginia who sang "Setting at the Foot of Jesus," Danielle Anderson and Kristie Green who sang "I'll Fly Away," and Tonya Huggins who sang "I'll See You in the Rapture."

Casketbearers were Steve Voss, David Voss, Jeff Voss, Gerald Ray Anderson, Doug Anderson, and Richard Green. Burial was at Borlin Cemetery.

The family suggested memorial gifts be made to the church. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton was in charge of arrangements.


BUECKER, ALICE JANE ANDERSON

Greene County native Mrs. Alice Jane Buecker, 58, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at her home following a lengthy illness. Born in Greene County Sept. 16, 1946, she was the daughter of Willard and Alice (Benton) Anderson. She married James Buecker, and he survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband, James, are four daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Rosie Phillips) Jarvi of Minnesota, Mrs. Stacy (Tammy Phillips) Friedelman of Idaho, and Michelle Burns and Mrs. Ron (Shawna Hopper) Davis of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Anderson of Alton; and a brother, Paul (wife Ethel) Anderson of Eldred. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Anderson and Ray Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Drucilla Anderson.

The body was cremated.

Pastor Clyde Myers will officiate at 11 a.m. graveside services Tuesday, July 6, at Borlin Cemetery, southwest of Carrollton.

Alice Jane Buecker
1946 - 2004
CARROLLTON

Alice Jane Buecker, 57, of Las Vegas, and formerly of Carrollton, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at her residence in Las Vegas.

She was born Sept. 16, 1946, in Carrollton, the daughter of Willard and Alice Benton Anderson. She married James Buecker and he survives in Las Vegas.

She is also survived by four daughters, Rosie Phillips (husband, Jesse) Jarvi of Minnesota, Tammy Phillips (husband, Stacy) Friedelman of Boise Idaho, Michelle Burns of Las Vegas and Shawna Hopper (husband, Ron) Davis of Las Vegas; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Anderson of Alton; and one brother Paul (wife, Ethel) Anderson of rural Eldred. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Gerald Anderson and Willard Ray Anderson.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Borlin Cemetery in Eldred. Memorials are suggested to the family.


FRY, CLOVER PAULINE DIERKING

Greene County native Mrs. Clover Pauline Fry, 78, of Grafton, died at 3:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton. She was born in Woodville Dec. 30, 1925, the daughter of Oliver and Pearl (Johnson) Dierking. She married Lloyd Fry Sr. and he died Nov. 17, 1984.

Surviving are eight daughters, Gloria Scott of Grafton, Vivian Drainer and Sandra Pyle of Jerseyville, Ginger Ingoglia of Springfield, Nina Rogers of Jacksonville, Angela O'Hara of Hollywood, Fla., Sarah Ashbaker of Murrayville, and Loretta Morton of Wood River; seven sons, Donald Retherford, Roland Fry, Jimmy Fry, and Lloyd E. Fry Jr., all of Jerseyville, Angelo Retherford of Carrollton, David Fry of Alton, and Troy Fry of Avon Park, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Kay Fry and Lola May Fry; one brother, Oliver James Dierking Jr.; and two sisters, Pansy Blossom Morago, and Nellie Blanche Foster.

Mrs. Fry was a member of New Life Tabernacle in Delhi.

Visitation was Wednesday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. The Rev. Dean Cox will officiate at 2 p.m. funeral services today, Thursday, at the New Life Tabernacle with burial following at Borlin Cemetery located southwest of Carrollton. The New Life Tabernacle was named to receive memorial gifts.

FRY SERVICES

The Rev. Dean Cox officiated at 2 p.m. funeral services for Greene County native Mrs. Clover Pauline Fry, 78, of Grafton, at New Life Tabernacle in Delhi. Pianist Diane Wolfley played "Amazing Grace," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "In the Garden." A CD by LeAnn Rimes, "The Thousand Angels Cried" was played.

Casketbearers were Jim Fry, Troy Fry, David Fry, Ronnie Fry, Dale Retherford, and Don Retherford. Burial was at Borlin Cemetery near Eldred.

Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton was in charge of arrangements.


NOBLE, SUE ELLEN DESHERLIA

Greene County native Mrs. Sue Ellen Noble, 52, of Otterville died at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. Born Aug. 16, 1952, in Carrollton, she was the daughter of Edwin Lee DeSherlia and Geneva (Slone) DeSherlia Pyatt. She married Wayne Noble May 25, 1997, in Jerseyville, and he survives.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Rebecca Baalman of Dow; two grandchildren, Kristen Michelle and Austin Michael Baalman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and Woody White of Hamburg and Melba and Ronnie Bryant of Boliver, Mo.; two brothers, Junior Pyatt of California and Jerry Pyatt of Peoria; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Noble had worked as a licensed practical nurse for 28 years at several nursing homes in Jerseyville and at Calhoun Care Center in Hardin.

She was preceded in death by two stepfathers, Louis "Teddy" DeSherlia and Howard Pyatt; six uncles; and four aunts.

Visitation was Monday at Alexander and Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Steve Helfrich officiating. Burial will be at Borlin Cemetery near Carrollton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.


WARREN, HOWARD A.

ALTON

Howard A. Warren, 71, of Alton, died Friday evening, Nov 19, 2004, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.

He was born Feb. 21, 1933, in St. Louis, the son of Charles and Louella Herring Warren. He married Rosalie Jane Darnell and she preceded him in death Sept. 16, 1986. He later married Mary Nasello and she preceded him in death Dec. 27, 2003.

He is survived by four daughters, Mary Funk of Wisconsin, Sharon (husband, Ron) Herrin of Washington, Linda (husband, Bryan) Emerson of Colorado and Barbara Lee of Urbana; one son, Mike (wife, Cassie) of Jerseyville; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ozzie (wife, Irene) of Bethalto, Morris (wife, Greta) of Carrollton and Louise (wife, Marjorie) of Shipman; and two sisters, Bessie Brooks of East Alton and Phyllis Williamson of Bethalto.

Mr. Warren worked for many years at Jefferson-Smurfit in Alton until retirement. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Army.

Funeral services will be held noon Tuesday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton, with burial at Borlin Cemetery, southwest of Carrollton. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.

Donna S. Withrow, 59, of Carrollton died early Tuesday morning, June 29, 2004, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.

She was born Dec. 19, 1944, in Missouri, the daughter of John "Bill" and Patricia Ebert Church. She married Lloyd Withrow on April 17, 1977, in Jerseyville, and he survives.

She is also survived by her mother of Alton; two daughters, Tina (husband, Shane) Carter of Carrollton and Tracy (husband, Tim) Ehlers of Alton; two grandchildren, Nick and Erika Carter; three sisters, Sharon (husband, Terry) Carmean of Godfrey, Billie (husband, Dan) Gusewelle of Alton and Dawn Church of Alton; four brothers, Mike (wife, Shirley) Church of Roxana, John (wife, Debbie) Church of Virginia Beach, Va., Larry Church of Rosewood Heights and Kelly Church of Bethalto. She was preceded in death by her father and one grandchild, Shandi Ehlers.

Mrs. Withrow worked for AAA Auto Club in Alton and Country Co. Insurance in Carrollton, but was best known for her day care of children. For the past 17 years, she cared for many children, including two very special ones, Dylan and Hannah Lorsbach. She will be sadly missed.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church in Carrollton, with burial at Borlin Cemetery southwest of Carrollton. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or St. Anthony's Hospital. WITHROW SERVICES

Funeral services for Donna Withrow were held 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at Faith Baptist Church in Carrollton with the Rev. Jon Lobos officiating. Organist Diane Wolfley played and sang "A Mighty Fortress" and 'The Old Rugged Cross." Special music included "I Will Go To My Grave Loving You" by the Statler Brothers. Honorary pallbearers were Nick Carter and Mike Becker. Pallbearers were Kelly, Mike and Larry Church and Jerry, Charles and Russell Withrow. Burial was at Borlin Cemetery, southwest of Carrollton. Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton was in charge of arrangements.
