WILLIAM B. SPENCER, oldest living child of Henry R. and Laura (Smead) Spencer, was born in this county Sept. 15, 1861. His father was an early settler in the county and was identified with its interests for over half a century. William was born and reared in Bluffdale township, and yet resides there, being the owner of 175 acres of land, on which is a spacious and handsome residence, erected in 1882. The main building is 28x40 feet in dimensions, and two stories in height. Mr. Spencer was married on the 24th of Dec., 1882, to Libbie Edmonds, a native of Greene county, and a daughter of Thomas Ellsbury and Nancy Jane Edmonds. By this marriage three children were born, of whom one is living - Minnie Amelia. Two died in infancy. Mr. Spencer is a careful enterprising farmer, hence pleasant, comfortable surroundings are to be found at his farm, and he is a genial, companionable gentleman.
