DAVID PINKERTON was elected to the office (County Treasurer) as the successor of Mr. Allen, in the fall of 1847, and served two years. Mr. Pinkerton came to the county at an early date, and settled on Sec. 25, T. 10, R. 12, where he entered 500 acres of land, on which he built a log cabin. He continued to reside on this farm until October 4, 1853, when he departed this life. His wife survived him until April 6, 1863. Mr. Pinkerton was elected to the office of county treasurer in the fall of 1847, and in the discharge of the duties of the office, he gave entire satisfaction to the people of the county, irrespective of political faith, and his death was a sad blow to his family and friends.
