ANDREW DOWNS came to this township about the year 1833. He was born in Kentucky in 1810, and was the son of Thomas Downs. From his native state he moved to Indiana, where he was married to a Miss Bullington, and by that union had four children. Mrs. Downs died about 1832 or 3, and in 1834 he was married to Eleanor Spencer, and they were the parents of 12 children, four of whom are living. In 1824, Mr. Downs had moved to Morgan county, this state, from whence he had come here as above stated. He settled on section 18, in this township, where he lived until death overtook him. This event occurred in August, 1865. He followed blacksmithing and ran a saw mill here, while living, as well as carried on his farm.
