February Meeting

On February 13, 2020, Cindy Leonard presented a program titled Return to Frying Pan.

Cindy shared her Return to Frying Pan in search of her family’s history, which led her to her Revolutionary War ancestor. With this discovery, she was able to complete the research started by her mother, Ellen Salter DalPozzo.  As a result of this research, Cindy was able to become a member of the Silver Creek Chapter – DAR.

She shared her research of the Sawyer line who left Frying Pan, North Carolina, and came to Staunton, Illinois, and then on to Dorchester Township, West Prairie. Cindy and her mother worked diligently searching for relatives who could share their family stories. When her mom became a victim of Alzheimer’s, Cindy, supported by her late husband, Chuck, completed the research, involving several visits to Frying Pan and also discovery of the beauty and history of the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

This presentation was very well received and provoked many questions and comments.
