MADISON COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM
|
Housed in the eight room Federal style mansion built by Dr. John Weir in 1836, the Madison County Historical Museum showcases and interprets the history of Madison County Illinois and its people through period furnished rooms, displays of antiques, quilts and historic costumes, and exhibits of Native American and pioneer artifacts. In a new brick building next door is the archival library with local history and genealogy records, some dating from the beginning of the county in 1812. |
