Santa Maria del Popolo Church, Mundelein

Santa Maria del Popolo Catholic Church is in the Chicago Archdiocese. Its name means St. Mary of the People.

Before it was formed in 1935, parishioners attended church at either St. Mary's in Fremont Center or St. Joseph in Libertyville. The first mass was heard in an old farmhouse which later served as the rectory. The church building was dedicated by Cardinal Mundelein in September 1935.

In 1950 classrooms were constructed, and more were added a year later. Santa Maria del Popolo School was formed and it was dedicated in 1951. The school and parish continued to grow. In 1964 a new school and church building were dedicated.

Santa Maria Del Popolo has a website that you can visit.
