The Hunter Cemetery Association met June 20-22, 2003 in Bureau County, Illinois for their 2nd Biennial work weekend. We had three days of glorious sunshine, mild temps, and low humidity! Unheard of for June in Illinois! It's often been said there's a greater power working with this group to accomplish our goals! This year was no exception. It started with a radio interview with Dan London of WZOE-AM radio in Princeton. Dan invited us to be on his open line, live radio program at 1030am on Friday morning. (We taped it on Thurs. for play on Fri.) Thanks to Kay, Ron, & Judy, it was well done. Over 300 man hours were put in in two days working at the cemetery, and we have lots of people to thank! Thanks to Ron and Louise, and the people who helped to build it, we now have a beautiful Recognition/Information Center. [photo to come soon] The cemetery is once again cleared, thanks to Amazing Grace, who brought us Mick H. Wow! What a guy! Jim & his crew trimmed and cut down trees, and the gals hauled branches, and raked, and raked, and hauled some more! Some were in charge of feeding all these hungry people and Kay & Judy did a terrific job! If you weren't there, you missed a feast! Billy was our Ambassador/tour guide and he did a wonderful job! Barry & Sharelle worked on the Plot map. Our dinner gatherings were small, but a lot was accomplished during these events and a great time was had by all. Kay Hosmer announced the Fence Project at Saturday evening's members meeting. The Fence Project will be tied in to our Birdies For Charity Fund drive. For more information on the Fence Project, please see email Kay. The Hunter Cemetery Association was established in 2001 to restore and maintain the Hunter Cemetery, and will operate as a not for profit cemetery association within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
