Description:
This is a picture taken in Marano around 1920. It is of Maddalena
Caira Dodaro (the tall lady). She was born around 1873. The small child
is her grandson. The smaller lady with her is Caterina Belmonte.
Caterina was born
in Marano in 1858 and died in 1932. Caterina never came to the United
States nor did Maddalena. Maddalena's father came to the US in 1900 and
her husband, Francesco Dodaro, came to the US 1893-1898. He also came
again in 1900-1902, then he came again in 1908 and died in Pennsylvania.
Maddelena was left to raise her three children by herself. She is the
mother of Raffela Dodaro Belmonte. |
