The day after graduating from Saint Bonaventure Grade School,
Chicago, IL, Sue applied for and was hired as a telephone operator and
held that job until her marriage in 1927. Sue was a great help to her
mother as the family grew in size (she had 8 younger brothers). One of
Sue's many tasks was to take her brothers shopping for shoes and
clothing.
Marion was a men's clothing designer and was employed by
Mr. Cefaratti of the Strayhorn Men's Custom Clothiers, located at
Michigan and Wacker Drives in Chicago, where men's suits at that time
cost about $400, but now, about $ 1000. One of his customers was
Mayor Edward J. Kelly of Chicago. |
