Anna Louise (WERNER) GILL


GILL, Anna Louise (age 99)  -- Former resident of Brownstown, Fayette County, IL,  died at 1:21 a.m. Tuesday, 27 Jan 1998, in Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur, IL.

Funeral services were at Liberty Christian Church, Brownstown, and burial in nearby Liberty Cemetery.  Visitation was at the church before the service. Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown, handled the arrangements.  Memorials were requested to Liberty Christian Church or Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur.

The daughter of Gottlieb and Sarah (Crowder) Werner, Lilian was born Dec 1, 1898, in Brownstown,.  Three husbands predeceased her: Raymond Stine; Alec Wilson; and Lloyd Gill.

She was a member of Prairie Avenue Christian Church, Decatur.

Survivors include one daughter: Helen; two foster daughters: Sondra and Ginnie; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great- stepgrandchildren. She was also predeceased by four sisters.

Harry G. DENNING

Harry G. DENNING, age 89, a resident of Brownstown, Fayette County, Illinois,
died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, 1 Feb 1998, in Vandalia Terrace, Vandalia (Fayette County).
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Feb 4th at Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown.  Burial was in Old Loogootee Cemetery, Loogootee.  Memorials were requested to the donor's choice.

Born 2 Jun 1908, in Otego Township, Fayette County, Mr. Denning was the son of William and Lucy (Morgan) Denning.  In 1933, he married Josephine Williams. Mr. Denning was retired.  During his busy lifetime however, he was a custodian at Brownstown Community High School, was a sales representative for BoJac Seed Corn Co. for many years, was a member of First Christian Church
in Brownstown, and also was a former volunteer fireman for the Brownstown Fire Protection District.

Survivors include his wife; daughter, Dorothy; brother, Charles; sisters, Lena and Mae; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; and one great-great-stepgrandchild.

He was predeceased by one son, one daughter and one grandchild.

Darrell B. CEARLOCK

Darrell B. CEARLOCK, age 75, of Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois, died at home on 26 Sep 1997. Funeral services were held on 29 Sep at Hohlt & File FUneral Home, Vandalia; burial was in McInturff Cemetery, Hagarstown, IL.  Memorials were requested to Fayette COunty Visiting Nurses Association.
    Mr. Clearlock was born in Ohlman on 22 Sep 1922, the son of Charles B. and Madeline (Clevenger) Cearlock.  In 1953, he maried Vivian G. Lamborn. He was retired from dairy farming and from the Shrine Memorial Mausoleum Company, Vandalia.  He was a WW-II Navy veteran and a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church, Vandalia.
     In addition to his wife, he was survived by:   sons. Randy and Gary; daughter, Dana; sisters Mildred, gladys, Opal, Wilma; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.

Orville D. CARTER


Orville D. CARTER, age 87, Ramsey, Fayette County, Illinois, died at Heritage Manor (Pana, IL) on 1 Oct 1997.
     Funeral services were 3 Oct 1998 at Wallace & Carroll Funeral Home, Herrick.  Burial was in Myers Cemetery, Herrick.
     Mr. Carter was the son of Absalom and Rose (Holman) Carter and born in Loudon Township, 22 Jan 1910.  In 1934, he married Dorothy Faye Jackson who died in 1993.
     He was a U.S. military veteran and a self-employed carpenter.  He was a member of the VFW Post 7676 in Altamont, Illinois.
     He was survived by:  sons, Billy and Russell; brother Woodrow; sister Nellie; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.

Agnes C. SCHAEFER

Agnes C. SCHAEFER, of Vandalia, Fayette County, Illinois (formerly of St.Louis), age 82, died on 4 Oct 1997 at Cherrywood Health Care Center, Vandalia.
     Funeral services were 6 Oct at Immanuel Luthern Church (Augsburg),
rural Shobonier (Illinois).  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Arrangements

     Miss Schaefer was the daughter of William and Josephine (Maske) Schaefer, and was born 5 Oct 1914 in Fayette County.
     She was retired from the Luthern Church, Missouri Synod at Concordia Publishing House (St. Louis) and was a member of Immanuel Luthern Church, Shobonier.
     She was survived by her brother Willet and sister Glenna.

Robert Dean STINEBRING

Robert Dean STINEBRING, age 63, of Brownstown, Fayette County, Illinois, died at Fayette County Hospital (Vandalia) on 7 Oct 1997.
     Funeral services were 9 Oct at Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial was in Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown.  Donations were requested to Griffith Cemetery.
     Mr. Stinebring was born in rural St. Elmo (Illinois) on 16 April 1934. He was the son of Glen and Laura (Mills) Stinebring.  In 1954, he married Betty Deverick.
     He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brownstown, and an employee of R&R Trucking, Effingham.
     He is survived by his wife; son Dennis; daughters Bickie and Ronda; brothers Frank and Bill; sisters Mary Lee, Betty, and Iva Mae; and six grandchildren.  His parents predeceased him.

Wilbert H. MESEKE

Wilbert H.      In addition to being an farmer, he was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 380.
     He was survived by his wife; sons Leland (Lee) and Michael; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister.

     Mrs. Reynolds was born in Wheatland Township, Fayette County, IL, on 8 May 1913.  She was the daughter of Clifford and Ora Belle (Fristoe) Pontius. In 1935, she married Doty W. Reynolds who died in 1995.
     She is survived by her daughter Jane; sister Audrey, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Arthur I. LOGUE of St. Elmo, Fayette County, Illinois, died at home on 29 Nov 1997.  Funeral services were 3 Dec 1997 at May-Kessel Funeral Home, St. Elmo.      He was a member of the Springhill Presbyterian Church, Beecher City, Illinois.  He retired from the Illinois State Highway Department (after 20 years service) and was then with the St. Elmo Water Department until his retirement in 1990.
     He is survived by his wife; sons Steven and Richard; brothers Gene and Johnny; sister Rosanne; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a son and a brother.

HAROLD WAYNE BROWNBACK

    HAROLD WAYNE BROWNBACK  age 74, of Assumption, IL,  died at home on Sunday,
22 Feb 1998.  Services were 25 Feb at Seitz Funeral Home (Assumption, IL) with full military rites by the VFW at the nearby Bethany Cemetery.
    Mr. Brownback was born 18 Mar 1923 in Tower Hill, IL, the son of Robert L. and Flora (Culley) Brownback.  In 1942, he married Emma Rose Kraus, who died in 1984.
     Mr. Brownbeck was a retired teacher, coach, and principal (Tower Hill and Assumption).  He belonged to the Assumption United Methodist CHurch, Bromwell Masonic Lodge and Tacusah VFW of Assumption.  He served with the U.S. Marines in WWII.
     He is survived by sons John, Jim, David, Donnie, Jerry, and Steven; daughter Karen; brothers Vernon and Norman; 16 grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother.

Bruce Williams
St. Elmo, IL -- Bruce Williams, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy (11 years of service), died Wednesday,18 Feb 1998 in a helicopter crash in the Sequoia National Forest, California.  Four other Navy personnel also perished in the crash.  Lt. Williams was 36 years and 9 months old.  He was the son of Melvin and Ethelyn Williams of St.Elmo. He is survived by his wife Kathy and three
children:  Keith, Wyatt, and Kelsey; a sister Kay and a brother David.
     A memorial service for the five personnel killed in the crash was held 23 Feb in All Faith Chapel, Chinal Lake Naval Station, CA.  Funeral services for Lt. Williams were also planed in Pensacola, FL, with burial in the national cemetery there.

BONNIE BELLE FEEZEL
BONNIE BELLE FEEZEL of St. Elmo, Fayette County, IL, (age 79) died at Friendship Manor (St. Elmo) on Thursday, 19 Feb 1998.
     Graveside services were 23 Feb at Union Cemetery, Altamont (Effingham County), IL. May-Kessel Funeral Home of St. Elmo was in charge of arrangements.
     Mrs. Feezel was born 2 Sep 1918 the daughter of Pearl Franklin and Ethel F. (Thrasher) Jenkins in St. Elmo.  In 1938, she married Darrel Feezel.
    She was a member of the Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary; the Fayette County Home Extension; St. Elmo Friendly Neighbors; and the St. Elmo American Legion Auxiliary.
     She is survided by her son Thomas D; brothers Pat and William; sisters Minnie Jane and Betty; and two grandchildren.  Her husband predeceased her.

JAMES ALDRIDGE
THE REVEREND JAMES ALDRIDGE (age 84) of St. Elmo, Fayette County, IL, died
Thursday, 19 Feb 1998 at his home.  Funeral services were conducted at May-Kessel Funeral Home on 21 Feb 1998 with burial in St. Elmo's Maplewood Cemetery.  Memorials were requested to the donor's choice.
     Rev. Aldridge was born in rural St. Elmo on 1 Jun 1913, the son of Sam and Lela (Haslett) Aldridge.  He married Cleo Henderson who died in 1976. In 1979, he married Betty L. Durbin.
     He was a retired Presbyterian minister, having served several churches in Chicago as well as Springhill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, rural Beecher City (Shelby County), IL.  He was a member of the St. Elmo Assembly of God Church and the American Legion Post 420; Joliet's VFW Stone City Post 2199; and a U.S.Army veteran from WWII.
     In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Phil and daughters Mary Lou, Joyce Ann, Karel Sue, Betty, and Evelyn; brothers Arther, Louis and John; two stepbrothers; a stepsister; 18 grandchildren and several great\grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a brother, a sister, and a
stepson.
