Welcome to the Captain Zeally Moss Chapter Illinois Society, Sons of The American Revolution The Sons of the American Revolution is a non-profit, non-political organization that was founded in 1889. Today there are over 500 chapters in the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Our Chapter serves nine counties in Central Illinois including Bureau, Henry, Knox, Fulton, Peoria, Marshall, Putnam, Stark and Tazewell. Joining SAR provides many opportunities to serve your community. Any man is eligible to join who is at least 18 years old and can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who was loyal to or provided service in the cause of American Independence. Many types of service qualify, so contact us or follow the "Membership" or "Links" page above for additional information from the National Society Sons of the American Revolution Website if you need help or have questions about membership. We are a very active chapter and usually meet on the 4th Wednesday of the month from March through October within our nine county coverage area. Our meeting schedule is available by clicking the "Schedule" link above. Some of our activities include participation in parades and historical events, marking Revolutionary War soldiers graves, honoring veterans of all eras, and recognizing outstanding high school students, Eagle Scouts, ROTC members and local citizens. For additional information about the Zeally Moss Chapter or to attend a meeting, contact one of our 2013-2015 chapter officers:
