May 2003 - Preliminary Meeting
  llinois State Officers traveled to Leaf River from Naperville, Pinckneyville, and Bloomington to meet with the Organizing Membership of our prospective Chapter for the "Preliminary Meeting" for a Salad Bouquet Luncheon on Saturday, May 31. Thirty members and guests gathered at the Bertolet Center in Leaf River for the long awaited day since the inception of our Chapter for a "get-acquainted period". The prospective members would sign the "Report of Organization of Chapter" in the presence of the Illinois State Regent, Mrs. Lyle (Joyce) Hinshaw of Bloomington. Our new chapter had 36 Organizing Members that would have their signature on the "Report". State Officers present for this special day were Joyce Hinshaw, Martha Emling (Organizing Secretary, and Patricia Stahler (Registrar). :
 
July 7, 2003 - Organization Day
  T he day of "Organization" finally dawns!! July 7, 2003 is awaited with great joy and anticipation.....this is the day the Captain Joseph Ogle Chapter, NSDAR will officially become a "Chapter" of the Daughters of the American Revolution!! The phone rings at the Bertolet Center where the attentive women have gathered to receive the announcement from IL State Regent Joyce Hinshaw that they have been accepted as a Chapter. Joyce announces to Chapter Regent Sharon Ogle that it is official.....as of 10:30 a.m. The Captain Joseph Ogle Chapter makes the second chapter in Illinois to organize during the administration of Joyce Hinshaw. Liberty Bell of the West was the first chapter to organize during her term, 2001 - 2003. Great work, Joyce! We love you.
