Hodges are three of the best men in the government, and heaven is blessing their work as they labor for the good of humanity. May the good work continue.
Robt. Foster, who a few years ago

became known in this county as a school teacher, went to Chicago two years ago and took a mercantile course in a business college, after which he found employment at various things until last October, when he took a position in the Chicago postoffice. A letter to his father, who lives in this vicinity, a few days ago, states that on the 4th of January he was married and is now living at home on Wall street. He says his wife's name is Frances Foster, and we say bully for Bob.
The Commercial of last weeks says that "John W. Newlon, of Catlin, is spoken of as a prospective candidate for circuit clerk," and adds that "he is as good a man as lives in Vermilion county or anywhere else." Having interviewed Mr. Newlon we can state with certainty that he is a candidate for the office subject to the decision of his fellow republicans at the coming primaries. Mr. Newlon was a soldier, is a member of the G. A. R., is identified with the agricultural interests of the county, has a fine education, and is noted for his courtesy in business and his sterling integrity. As supervisor of this township he made a record of which anyone might well be proud. Judging from letters in his possession received from leading republicans in different parts of the county, it would seem that his nomination is a foregone conclusion. "Barkis is willin'."
