Daniel Swisher, who was bitten by a rattlesnake, the particulars of which were given in Sunday morning's NEWS, is thought to be past danger. His arm and hand are terribly swolen.

The Catlin Odd Fellows that met State Line and Tilton lodges at Danville last Friday night were Silas Clark, Joseph Buckingham, Wm. White, L. G. Clark, Geo. Patterson, Wm. Jemison, Geo. Wolf, Jr., A. Snell, W. S. Pate, Chas. Thomas, Med Thomas, C. H. Douglas, J, R. Ray, Thomas Dale and G. W. Tilton.

The gross receipts of the band festival were $46.

The executive committee of the old settlers' reunion will meet in a few days to determine the time and place for next meeting. It was born here and should be brought up here. Our application is a standing one.

Swartz says that coffee has been advancing in price ever since Cleveland began housekeeping.

Fairmount's Fourth of July bill poster was "doing" our village one day last week.

C. Shortall's latest boy was born on his father's birthday, May 31st.

Henry Puzey sold to Clipson Bros. 55 thoroughbred Cottswold sheep last week. These were his show sheep and had taken many a premium. He will visit the fairs this fall with an entirely new and much improved herd.

Our country cousins are respectfully invited to drive in and try the new hitching racks at the M. E. church.

Arad McCabe, a resident of Shawneetown, Ill., in company with his brother, J. M. McCabe, of Fairmount, spent an afternoon with their Ripley county friends here last week.

Taylor picnic next Saturday at Vance's Ford.
