Tilton, Ralph R., Insurance, Catlin. Ralph R. Tilton, son of Sam R. and Lou G. Tilton, was born in Catlin, Illinois, March 14, 1877; received schooling in the village schools. In April 1912 was elected Village Clerk which position is still retained. Has been very active in Democratic politics in the county, having served twenty years on the County Central Committee, and has been secretary of the organization for four years. April 13th, 1913, Governor Dunne appointed him Commissioner of the Illinois State Penitentiary at Joliet, Illinois, and also Secretary of the Board of Prison Industries. At his father's death January 28, 1911 he took over his insurance business and is still doing a large amount of same.
