Robinson Constitution - April 26, 1899; page 1, column 4

J. L. Shoulders died at his home in this city Wednesday, April 19, 1899. He was the son of Alexander and Harriet Sholders and was born in this county on July 31 1866. He was married to Miss Ida M. Marbry June 19, 1890. Two children were born to them, both of whom survive.

He also leaves a father and mother, two sisters and brother to lament his seeming untimely end. His brother, Garvin, is a member of Co. G. 9th Ill., now at Savannah.

Mr. Sholders united with the Methodist Episcopal church during the revival last February, and has since lived the life of a consistent Christian. The funeral was conducted at the late residence Thursday afternoon by Rev. C. A. Beckett, after which interment occurred in the Robinson cemetery.
