Herbert K. Russell 89 Oblong, Illinois died Monday February 18, 2002 at 12:10 a.m. at Crawford Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit. He was born July 21, 1912 in the Porterville area of Crawford County, Illinois and was the son of Walter Russell and Mary (Stratton) Russell. In 1932 he married Theora Randolph who died July 1972. Herbert helped build several roads in Crawford County and for 30 years worked as a roustabout and traveling pumper for Ohio Oil and Marathon Oil Companies. He was a member of the Highland Ave. Church of Christ in Robinson. Herbert was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 55 year member of the Oblong Masonic Lodge AF & Am #644, Robinson Elks Lodge #1188 and Robinson Moose Lodge #1369. His hobbies included trap shooting, skeet shooting, fishing, hunting, rebuilding and repairing guns.
Herbert is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-laws Marianne & Joe Herx, Rosalie Russell Cooner, Beverly Russell; 4 Grandchildren Jim Elliott, Becky Dezur, Cassie Russell and R. J. Goff; 2 great grandchildren Payton & Ellie Dezur; 1 sister Ruby Taylor; Niece Candy & Richard Williams; 1 brother-in-law Harry & Theresa L. Randolph; several nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding Herbert in death were is parents, 2 brothers Howard & Kenneth Russell; 2 sisters Harriette Shonk and Mary Dorrough.
Burial is in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL. Masonic Service conducted by Oblong Masonic Lodge AF&AM #644.
