Ora Merle Price

Ora Merle Price 78, Oblong, Illinois, died Saturday October 4, 2003 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born in on November 7, 1924 and was the son of Otis Price and Nina (Maus) Price.

On April 18, 1954 he married Blodwyn Lindsey. She survives. In October 1983, Merle retired from the State of Illinois Department of Conservation as a Fisheries Biologist. During WWII he served in the Army Air Force as a waist gunner on a B-24 bomber. He was stationed in England with the 2nd Air Division of the 8th Air Force. Merle was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Oblong. he was a member of the American Fisheries Society, Ducks Unlimited, Oblong American Legion Post #219 and Second Air Division Association. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, wood working, stamp collecting and collecting fishing lures.

Merle was survived by his wife Blodwyn, two sons and daughters-in-laws Kim & Shannon Price and David & Peggy Price; daughter and son-in-law Amy & Jess Angle; three grandchildren Tyler Price, Emily Price and Lindsey Price: three step grandchildren Kevin & Beth Angle, Shannon Angle and Ashleigh Figearo; two step great grandchildren Jesse Angle and Nikki Angle; one brother Richard Price; and he was loved by his in-law family the Lindsey's.

Merle's parents preceded him in death.

Burial will be in Oblong Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Oblong American Legion Post #219.
