Gary Alan Parr, 52 of Palestine, IL, died at 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong from complications of paralysis and pneumonia. He was born February 23, 1955 in Chicago, IL, the son of S. Alan Parr and Beatrice Tarrith Parr.
Gary was a truck driver for several years, driving for Aurora Fast Freight. He was a member of the Teamster's Local and the Palestine Eagles Lodge.
He married Carolyn Nethery September 19, 1992 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Christa and Scott Heimrich, Sandwich; his grand son; his step son and step daughter-in-law, Michael and Jody Ham, Palestine; his step daughter and step son-in-law, Melinda and Jack Carpenter, Palestine; 14 step grandchildren; and 1 step great grandchild. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Thomas Parr and Patrick Parr; his sister, Stephanie Parr, all of Oklahoma.
He was preceded by his parents.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine with Rev. Dwight McDaniel officiating Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 12:00 noon to service time at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
