Mary V. Newsome 93 Oblong, Illinois died Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at the Ridgeview Care Center, . Mary was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 7, 1909 and was the daughter of Elzia B. and Esther Rose (Dillion) Dressback. On August 29, 1928 she married William Fred Newsome, he preceded her in death on December 1, 1983. Mary retired in 1974 as a cook at the Oblong Grade School. Her hobbies included crocheting, latch hooking and embroidering.
Mary is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Robert and Loretta Newsome; daughter and son-in-law Betty B. and Don K. Bailey; nine grandchildren Ginger Doucet, Kevin K. and Rebecca Bailey, Trevor and Pari Bailey, Bruce Newsome, Kim and Richard Wall, Brad and Lora Newsome, Amy and Charles Christman, Robert and Jennifer Pritts, Julie and Chris Brown; seventeen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters Ida Neeley, Catherine Eveland and Agnes Biggs; five brothers Ira, Ferd, Sam, Thomas and John Dressback; one granddaughter-in-law Doreen Newsome.
Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery.
