Doris E. Newlin, 86, formerly of Robinson and Palestine, IL, died at 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville. She was born September 24, 1917 in Palestine, IL, the daughter of Charles E. Earleywine and Lou Van Horn Earleywine.
She retired as a bookkeeper for Union Planters Bank in Robinson. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Palestine.
She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Greta and Al Bennett, Robinson; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles E. and Colleen Earleywine, Palestine, Van Earleywine, Robinson, Ted and Marcella Earleywine, Hutsonville; 6 nieces and 6 nephews, and several cousins.
She married David R. Newlin May 23, 1947 and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Zola Earleywine, Margaret "Peg" Whipkey, and Iris Newlin; 3 brothers, Aubrey Earleywine, Neal Earleywine, and Keith Roland Earleywine in infancy.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2003 at the Palestine Cemetery with Rev. James Delaney III officiating. Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Palestine with envelopes available at the funeral home.
