Otis L. "Ote" Miller, 64, the Bend area died Monday January 7, 2002 at his residence from Cancer. He was born July 14, 1937 in Sainte Marie Township Jasper County, Illinois (The Bend). Otis was the son of Joseph Miller and Maymie (Flynn) Miller.
On December 29, 1962 he married Sharon Marie Huchel. Otis retired in 1999 from Painters Local Union #1705 Robinson as a painter and sand blaster. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Ste. Marie American Legion Post and his hobbies included horses, hunting, metal detecting and tinkering with cars.
Otis is survived by his wife Sharon; son and daughter-in-law Randy & Melissa Miller; 2 daughters and sons-in-laws Rose & Darry Birch and Joann & Todd Krick; 6 grandchildren Gene & Dakota Birch, Randy & Colt Krick and Brandon & Cheyanne Miller; 2 brothers and sisters-in-laws John & Betty Miller and David and Carol Miller; sister and brother-in-law Catherine & Bill McCleave; brothers-in-laws Sam & Pat Huchel, Larry & Phyllis Huchel and Tom & Chung Huchel; 2 special cousins John C. Schryock and Herman & Lori Schryock; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive; also surviving is his mother-in-law Lora Huchel.
Otis is preceded in death by his parents, 1 infant brother Joseph Harry Miller and 1 infant sister Margaretta Miller.
Private family burial will be in Bend Cemetery.
