Chauncey H. McCoy, 98, of Palestine, IL, died at 2:45 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2005 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson. He was born December 21, 1906 in Crawford County, IL, the son of Charles F. McCoy and Mary Alice Garrard McCoy. He was an owner and operator of McCoy Shell Station, in Palestine from April 1, 1935 until his retirement on August 31, 1977. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in the European Theater. He had been a member of the Gordon Chapel United Methodist Church, and Robinson American Legion Post #69.

He married Fanchon Biggs December 22, 1935 and she preceded him in death October 22, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, 1 in infancy and Walker McCoy; and 1 sister, Eliza Apple. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 15th at 11:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. Tom Akers is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:00 a.m. to service time at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Academic Foundation with envelopes at the funeral home.
