R. Gregory Maxwell, 49, of Robinson, IL, died at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Terre Haute, IN October 27, 1954 the son of Lyle Maxwell and Pat York Maxwell.
He worked in the shipping department at Hershey from March 1973 and was a part-time truck driver for Tussey Trucking. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ and served as a deacon at the church since 1987. He was also a member of the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188.
He married Denise Van Tassell on March 17, 1973 and she survives. He is also survived by his mother, Pat Maxwell, Robinson; his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Brandi Maxwell, Robinson; his daughter, Brooke Maxwell and fiancé, Jason Hackney, Wellington, KY; his granddaughter, Audrey Maxwell, Robinson; his father-in-law, Vance J. Van Tassell, Granite Bay, CA; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Van Tassell, Robinson; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jeff and Candy Van Tassell and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Valori and Gordon Rogers, all of Roseville, CA; his aunt, Claudia Woodard, Redding, CA; one nephew, several nieces and cousins.
His father preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 12th at the Highland Church of Christ with Pastors Tom Buchanan and Johnie Adkins officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 11th from 4-7 pm at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson and from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, December 12th preceding the service at the church. Memorials may be made to the Lincolnland Hospice with envelopes available at the funeral home.
