Mary E. Matheny, 86, Lebanon, Illinois formerly of died Thursday March 23, 2006 at the Cedar Ridge Healthcare Center, Lebanon, Illinois. Mary was born in Hardinville, Illinois on March 13, 1920 and was the daughter of John Samuel & Nancy Ellen (Doyal) Sappingfield.
On September 9, 1939 Mary married Gerald Wayne Matheny and he preceded her May 20, 1995. Mary was a bookkeeper and co-owner of Matheny Standard Oil Station in Oblong, IL.
Mary was a member of the First Christian Church, . Her hobbies included cards, quilting, sewing, reading and cooking.
Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol & Wayne Prince; two grandchildren, Angela & Scott Simon and Jodie & Pete Soto; four great-grandchildren, Molly & Peter Soto and Charlie & Anne Simon; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary is preceded by her parents, husband, one son, Leon Matheny; two brothers, Henry & Elmer Sappingfield; and three sisters, Doris Siefert, Alleen Delong & Ellen Schwartz.
Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
