Earl Lorance, 89, rural passed away at 2:59 p.m. Thursday, August 2, 2007, in the Emergency Room of Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson following an apparent heart attack. Born on November 2, 1917, in Martin Townsip, Crawford County, he was the son of W. N. (Noah) Lorance and Stella C. (Smith) Lorance.

Earl served with the U. S. Army during W. W. II. He retired from the production department of Marathon Oil Company in 1976. He was a member of the Prior Grove Baptist Church, rural Oblong where he served as a Deacon. Earl was also a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219; Robinson Masonic Lodge AF & AM #250; Danville Consistery; Oblong Gem Club. Earl was instrumental in getting the Baptist Church Camp established. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering and antiquing.

On August 3, 1942, he married Lorraine Fielder, who survives. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Claude and Chloris M. "Buster" Lorance; and three sisters, Clara White, Lula Rushing and Edna Dunham.

Burial is in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
