Gene L. Laws, 72, Lockport, Illinois formerly of Willow Hill and passed away Friday December 31, 2004 at his residence in Lockport. He was born October 25, 1932 in Willow Hill, Illinois and was the son of Albert Laws and Flossie (Cox) Laws. On November 3, 1956, he married Verla Cavendish who precedes him in death. For many years, Gene worked as a manager in the trucking industry. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, member of Lockport First United Methodist Church and Lockport American Legion Post. Gene grew up in the Willow Hill and Oblong area and attended Oblong schools were he was a member of the Oblong High School Class of 1950. Gene was a coin collector and an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Two daughters Linda Laws and Karen Laws; two grandchildren Nick Laws and Melissa Laws; two sisters and brothers-in-laws Doris & George Huckett and Genelle & Gilbert Phillippe survive Gene.

Gene's parents, wife and an infant son precede him in death.

A "SPECIAL THANKS" from Gene's family to Pastor Lora Zink, Bob Thompson and the Oblong High School Class of 1950 for their continued support.

Burial will be Mound Cemetery, rural Jasper County, with Military Rite provided by Oblong American Legion Post #219.
