James D. Kirts, 67, of rural Oblong, IL, died at 10:25 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2003 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born August 22, 1936 the son of Charles Melvin Kirts and Donave Jeanette Hollingsworth Kirts. He was a truck driver and operator for Lee Kintner and Sons for 32 years retiring in 2000. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Terre Haute Teamsters Local #135; a member of the Methodist Church; the D.A.V. #41, Newton, and Robinson Elks Lodge #1188.

He married Patsy Musgrave on November 28, 1956 and she survives. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, J. D. and Jill Kirts, Oblong; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Jodi and Randy Littlejohn, Oblong, and Jill Renee' Kirts, Robinson; 2 grandchildren, Lyndsey and Landon Littlejohn; Oblong; 2 step grandchildren, Zach and Abbey Smith, Terre Haute, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Essie Kirts, and his maternal grandparents, Mart and Jeanette Hollingsworth, who raised him.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2003 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the D.A.V, the Good Samaritan Lincoln Trail Hospice or to the donor's choice.
