Mary M. Hirter, 85, Robinson, Illinois passed away at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson,Illinois. Born March 23, 1923, in Chinook, Montana, she was the daughter of Ira Dennis and Grace (Sparks) Dennis. She worked at a landscaping nursery in Portland, Oregon and also Victor Dana, Robinson, Illinois as a general production worker retiring is 1988. Mary was a member of the West Union Christian Church. She was a graduate of Oblong High School - Class of 1942. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, making dolls and she loved animals.
In 1945, she married Roy Hirter, who preceded her in death in 1981. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Jean Cox; and two brothers, Fremont and Bill Dennis.
Mary is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis & Marva Hirter, Bruce Hirter and Kenneth Hirter; six grandchildren, Denise & Tim Wilson, Christine & Gary Stamper, Michael Hirter, Angie Hirter & husband Joe, Jennifer Hirter and Stacey Hirter; three great-grandsons, Jordan Klaeger, Devin Klaeger and Shawn Michael Hirter; one sister, Adelyne D. Claybaugh and two great-nieces.
Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, Illinois.
