Lester Ray Harris, 72 of Robinson formerly of Jasper County, IL, died at his home at 5:40 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005 after an extended illness. He was born March 4, 1933 in Robinson, IL, the son of Fred Harris and Margaret Wagner Harris. He was a laborer in the construction industry and served in the U. S. Army in Germany. He attended Olive Branch Baptist Church in Martinsville, IL.

He married LaVera Eaton in 1953 and she preceded him in death on January 3, 1976. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 3 infant children; and his brother, Jack Harris.

He married Karla Phipps on December 28, 1976 and she survives. He is also survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Sherry Harris, Robinson, Rocky and Trudy Rash, West Union; 2 daughters and his son-in-law, Kara and Alan Lackey, Robinson, Penny Harris, Robinson; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Bernice Newell, Robinson, and Betty Green, Robinson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Pastor Larry Nave is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 9th. Memorials may be made to the Olive Branch Baptist Church in Martinsville with envelopes at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Amvets Post # 33, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.
