Rose E. Gilbert, 82, of Robinson, IL, died at 12:52 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2007 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born November 2, 1924 in Flat Rock, IL, the daughter of Jesse Scott and Mildred Flo Goodwin.
She worked at Ettlebrick Shoe Company for 17 years and at Victor Dana for 28 years retiring in 2001. She was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church and the Katherine Chapter Order of Eastern Star #637.
She married Charles Gilbert February 24, 1940 and he preceded her in death January 18, 1970. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Kathy J. Smith; her son, James Allen Gilbert; 2 brothers Grandville and Wilbur Scott; and 2 sisters, Lois Scott and Reba Servison.
She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon and Robert Parker, Marion and Sandra Parker, Robinson; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Sam and Diane Butler, Olney, Greg and Pam Mendenhall, Oblong, Lisa Dinsmore, Martinsville, IN, Brett and Carol Runyon, Johnston City, Brad and Miranda Parker, Albion, Keith and Lesley Hites, Hutsonville; 9 great grandchildren, Ashton Parker, Gunnar Butler, Logan, Chase, Camryn, and Paige Mendenhall, Colton and Kelsey Hites, and Jacob Dinsmore; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Bettie and Gale Frye, Robinson, Patty and Vic Ritter, West Branch, MI; brother and sister-in-law, Jesse and Marion Scott, Rolling Prairie, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Dean Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Olive Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, October 7th at the funeral home.
