James Delbert "J. D." Frye 84 Overland Park, Kansas died Saturday August 10, 2002 at Ashford Place in Overland Park, Kansas. He was born September 4, 1917 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and was the son of Raliegh C. Frye and Elsye (Higgins) Frye ( Palestine area). J. D.'s mother died when he was very young and his father remarried and J.D. was raised by Raliegh & Gladys Frye in the Lawrenceville area. He graduated from Lawrencville High School Class of 1936. On May 11, 1942 he married Cora Margaret Attaway. J. D. served in the United States Air Force during WW II and made a career of the Air Force retiring as a Colonel on August 31, 1959. After retiring from the Air Force he and Cora lived in the Washington D. C. area and he worked in sales for both Hoffman Electronics and The Westinghouse Company.

J. D. is survived by his wife Cora; son and daughter-in-law Jim & Carol Jean Frye; two daughters and son-in-law Janie Guhin and Judy & Larry Boley; two grandchildren Laura (Guhin) & Dave Meyer and David & Anna Guhin; brother and sister-in-law Donald & Betty Frye; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lloyd "Bud" & Marty Attaway; nieces and nephews and two special nephews Richard Garrard of Palestine and Don Frye Jr of Brownsburg, IN.

Preceding him in death were his parents, step mother and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lois and George Garrard of Palestine

Burial will be in Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Illinois. Military rites at the Graveside Service will be conducted by the Oblong American Legion Post #219.
