John L. Duffy, 83 Hunt City, Illinois area died Tuesday December 17, 2002 at Newton Rest Haven Care Center in Newton, IL. John was born January 22, 1919 in Highland Park, IL. and was the son of George Franklin Duffy and Mabel Victoria Hanson. On February 1, 1956, he married Cleda B. Biggs who preceded him in death on April 29, 2002. John was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II and member of the Hunt City Christian Church. He trained thoroughbred horses and was a member of the Horseman's Benevolent Association. His hobbies included reading, driving, horses and anything to do with railroading.
John is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law Carol & David Ferguson and Diana Haddox; 6 grandchildren Ceretta & Jarrett Weber, John & Kim Ferguson, Joanna & Greg McCoy, Debra & Karl Wheeler, Jamie Haddox and James Haddox; and 11 great grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister (Pauline Duffy) and a son-in-law (James Haddox)
Burial in Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL, Graveside Military Rites will be conducted by Oblong American Legion Post #219.
