Claude H. Correll, 81, of rural Robinson, IL, died at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL, at 5:40 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2005. He was born February 25, 1924 in rural Robinson, IL, the son of Noble Otto Correll and Margaret Hull Correll.

Claude farmed all his life and owned a Centennial Farm in Robinson Township. He was active in gardening, sports, hunting, golfing, and fishing. He was a member of the Crawford County Farm Bureau, the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, a board member with Farm Services, and a 4-H leader. He was also active in the Audubon Society. He played trumpet in several bands, most recently with the R. H. S. Alumni Band and the Music Makers band that played every year at the Palestine Rodeo, where he played for over 20 years.

Claude married Mary E. Williamson on June 1, 1947 and she preceded him in death on March 29, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Nolan "Bob" Correll; and his sister, Lorna Griep.

He is survived by 5 children and their spouses, Sara Lee & Steve Mittelstaedt, Minnetonka, MN, Susan Elizabeth and Steve Hardwick, Newton, IL, Don Scott and Kathy Correll, rural Robinson, Claude Steven and Jayne Correll, Chillicothe, IL, Barbara Sharlene and Mark Butler, Rochester, IL; 12 grandchildren, Haley Mittelstaedt, Kent Mittelstaedt, Brian Hardwick and his wife, Jen, Kelly Hardwick, Karrie Hardwick, Jeremy Correll, George Correll, John Correll, Kyle Correll, Diana Correll, Pierce Butler, and Logan Butler; 2 step grandchildren, Ryan Mattern and Jennifer Mattern; and his great granddaughter, Kayleh Correll. He is also survived by his brother, Noble "Bud" Correll, Stuart, FL; his sister, Mary Elizabeth "Mecky" Greene, Midlothian, VA, several nieces and nephews; and 2 sisters-in-law, Violet and Cleo Correll.

Funeral services are Monday, March 21, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Jack Kilburn is in charge of services. Burial is in the Newlin Cemetery, rural Robinson. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20th and until service time on Monday.
