Robert Parker Cawood, age 79 of Flat Rock, IL, died October 16, 2005 at Deaconess Hospital. He was born August 20, 1926 in Honey Creek Twp., IL to Fred and Daisy (Parker) Cawood. He was a Lab Technician for Marathon Oil Refinery, Robinson, retiring in 1984 after 35 years of service. Robert was an avid NASCAR Fan and enjoyed watching his grandson race for Cawood Racing. He also enjoyed camping, travel and country music. He was a treasurer for the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge for 25 years and was a 50 year member of that organization. He was also a member of the Robinson American Legion and the Flat Rock United Methodist Church.

Robert married Juanita Kathryn (Kate) Coombes on May 8, 1948 and she survives. He is also survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Doug and Terrie Cawood, Rob and Doris Cawood and Larry and Mary Jane Cawood all of Robinson; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Joe Spade, Pontiac, IL and Sandra Redman, Robinson; a daughter-in-law, Mary Cawood, Pinkstaff, IL; 12 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Florence Jean Cawood, LaPorte, IN; a sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Virgil Edgington, Lawrenceville and a sister-in-law, Martha Markwell, Greenup, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son David; and 2 sisters, Cleo Kent and Phyllis Dunlap.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock, with Rev. Jeff Haley and Rev. Burl Rich officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2005 at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 8:00p.m. following visitation Tuesday at the funeral home. They will be conducted by the Flat Rock Masonic Lodge. Graveside military services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and the Amvets Post #33. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flat Rock United Methodist Church.
