Charles Morgan Carraway, Jr, 80, died at 11:45 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2004 at Summit Hospital, Baton Rouge, LA. He was a native of Texarkana, Arkansas, a resident of Baton Rouge, La, and formerly of Robinson, IL.

He was retired from the Charles Carraway Consulting Engineering Co. in Evansville, IN, doing business in Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and played on the U. S. Navy Football Team. He was a graduate of LSU in Petroleum Engineering, starting in the petroleum engineering field with Lewis Engineering, Evansville, IN, before starting his own engineering firm. He was a member of the Robinson First United Methodist Church, the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Danville Consistory, Danville, IL, the Illinois Oil and Gas Association and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (Basin Chapter).

He is survived by two sisters, Jane Green, Baton Rouge, Nancy Stubbs and her husband Dan, Brandon, MS; his brother and sister-in-law, James Ferrell and Nell Carraway, Baton Rouge; and several nieces and nephews.

He married Joanne M. McCarty on August 22, 1954 and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2001. He was also preceded by his parents, Charles Morgan and Leona Tinsley Carraway; 2 brothers, Reese and Ray Carraway; and 2 sisters, Rosabell Cutrer and Evan Carraway.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the Robinson First United Methodist Church. Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church prior to services. Burial is in the Robinson New Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and the Palestine AmVets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Association, 11572 Sheraton Dr. Baton Rouge, LA. 70815 with envelopes available at the funeral home. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
