Pheobe Dimmett Buntin, 86 of rural Palestine died at her home at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 15, 2005. She was born February 16, 1918 in Palestine, the daughter of Alva Newton Dimmett and Mary Olive Higgins. She had been employed for several years as a secretary at the Palestine United Savings and Loan Association. She was a member of the Palestine First Christian Church and was active in the LaMotte Township Library.

Pheobe married Brooks Buntin on August 9, 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 22nd 1998. She was also preceded by her parents; a grandson, James Cox; and her sister, Ruth Dimmett.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sara Lee and Doug Seaborne, Edinburg, IN; her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Diana Buntin, Cummings, GA; 2 grandchildren, Mike Cox and Betsy Brown, both of Columbus, IN; 2 step grandchildren, J. D. Seaborne and Craig Seaborne, both of Columbus, IN; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Em Dimmett, Houston, TX; 2 nieces; and her sister-in-law, Berdena Leggitt.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. Don Teagarten is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. preceding the service. Memorials may be made to the LaMotte Townnship Library with envelopes at the funeral home.
