Oneita Gay Brimberry, 68 of Palestine, IL, died at her home in Palestine at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2005 after an extended illness. She was born November 15, 1936 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Bill Skidmore and Irene Albin Skidmore.

She worked for Jim Hill Realtors in sales and then worked for L. S. Heath and Sons, Leaf Candy Co, and Hershey for 22 years, retiring as a receptionist and buyer on April 29, 1996. She was a member of the Egyptian Board of Realtors and the Palestine Eagles Auxillary.

Gay married Gerald D. "Jerry" Brimberry on November 16, 1956 and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cherri E. and Bard Benefield, Champaign; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Kim Brimberry, rural Robinson, Doug and Mickey Brimberry, Champaign; 5 grandchildren, Blayne Benefield, Champaign, Brandon and Logan Brimberry, rural Robinson, Sydney and Eric Brimberry, Champaign; her brother and sister-in-law, David and Debbie Skidmore, rural Flat Rock; 2 sisters-in-law, Becky Skidmore, Seligman, MO and Marilyn Manhart, rural Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Wednesday, April 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. James Delaney III is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society with envelopes at the funeral home.
