Ronald G. Brannon, 63 of Flat Rock, IL died at 4:32 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005 in rural Flat Rock of an apparent heart attack. He was born November 15, 1941 in Palestine, the son of Rudolph Brannon and Alice Meek Brannon. He was the Utility Superintendent for the Village of Flat Rock for over 25 years. He served in the U. S. Army in the Airborne and was a member of the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.

Ronnie married Lana Decker and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Tori Bell of Flat Rock; 3 grandchildren, Ryder Brannon, Deondre Bell, and Blake Bell, all of Flat Rock; his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Carolyn Brannon, rural Palestine; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and Peter Boffer, Zion, Kay Catt, Robinson, Mary and Gary Stevens, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Audrey Zentz.

There will be graveside services at the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 25th. with Pastor Albert Woods. There will be no visitation. The Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, and the Amvets Post #33 will conduct military graveside services. Memorials may be made to the Flat Rock Home Coming Committee or to the Ronnie Brannon Scholarship Fund, % Casey State Bank, 101 S. Main, Flat Rock, IL with envelopes available at the funeral home. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements.
