Mildred Bliss, 88, Oblong, Illinois, died Monday December 22, 2003 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. She was born in Crawford County, Illinois on December 27, 1914 and was the daughter of Arthur Lackey and Jenny Mae (Scott) Lackey.
On February 20, 1937 she married Emerson S. Bliss, who died July 5, 1991. Mildred worked at both the Ettlebrick Shoe Factory and T R W in Robinson, IL. She was a member of the Dogwood Prairie United Methodist Church, rural Oblong. Mildred loved to make quilts.
Mildred is survived by two sons and daughters-in-laws Joe & Evelyn Bliss and Marion and Marsha Bliss; two daughters and a son-in-law Beverly Goff and Judy and Byron Gullett; nine grandchildren - Robin Goff, Danny Goff, David Goff, Renee Ochs, Michelle Neeley, Cody Bliss, Toby Bliss, Kara Price and Kristy Gullett; nine great grandchildren, three sisters Oma Lachey, Mary Becktell and Wilma Miller; One brother Robert Lackey; two sisters-in-laws Marcella Griffith and Lona Bliss along with several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, two grandsons (Kenneth Goff and Todd Bliss), one son-in-law Earl Goff January 6, 1998, precede Mildred in death.
Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
