Ellen Benson Adams, 73, of Robinson, IL, died at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. after a lingering illness. She was born March 29, 1931 in Hutsonville, IL, the daughter of Roy Burton Crutcher and Mary F. Leeman Crutcher.
Ellen married Randall Ray Benson on April 25, 1953 and he preceded her in death August 31, 1982. She then married Jerrell Adams on June 14, 1986 and he preceded her in death on February 17, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She was a homemaker, a registered Certified Nurses Aide, and a member of the Oak Grove Congregational Church. She and her husband, Ray, owned and operated Maple Lane Care nursing facility south of Hutsonville, IL, for over 5 years. She and her husband, Jerrell, managed South Wind Trailer Court, and she continued managing it for several years after his death until 2001.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Marleen Benson, Newton, IL; her daughter and son-in-law, Marla and Darrell Graham, Pataskala, OH; 3 grandchildren, Rikki Lyn Benson, Palestine, Mikaila Rae Graham, Pataskala, OH, and Dara and her husband, Eric Potts, Oblong; her great granddaughter, Kirstin Potts, Oblong; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Bobby Reed, Martinsville, IL; 2 brothers-in-law and their spouses, Roy and Ruby Benson, Lima, OH, and Max and Marilyn Benson, West Virginia; her sister-in-law, Mary Benson, rural Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine. Brad Harper is in charge of services. Visitation is from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 on Saturday. There will be cremation with a graveside service at a later date in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
