Location: (GPS: 38.996881, -87.601698) (Google Map) (Hand-drawn map and notes.) The Palestine Cemetery survey was compiled by Carolyn Ellis 1981, and revised in 1999.
At the time of this survey the cemetery had seven Sections and is listed "per section" here. An eighth section has been added, referred to as the 'north' or 'new' section, and, while interments have begun there, no survey has yet (2016) been made.
Section 1 is between the gates and north of the drive, starting listing from the northwest corner. Section 2 starts just east of the east gate in the north west corner and goes east. Section 3 is the small circle near the east side, beginning with the northwest corner. Section 4 begins with the northwest corner at the grave of Billy Joe Wesley. Section 4 is on the east side of the cemetery, starting just south of Section 3. Section 5 begins in the northwest corner and is the big mid-section between all the driveways. Section 6 begins with the northwest corner near the walkway to the Mausoleum. Section 6 is the south section, south of the east/west roadway and east of the Mausoleum. Section 7 is the beginning of the older part of the cemetery, beginning with the stones just west of the mausoleum walk and west drive, working west. Section 8 (or the 'new' or 'north' section) lies entirely north of the main, un-named, east-west road through the cemetery.
