Following is one of the Biographies and Stories which where gathered by Charles Sumner McKamy in the 1950s for publication in a Crawford County History Book. Unfortunately he passed away before the book was published.

Greenle Steele, a brother of Worthy B. Steele, of Terre Haute, Indiana, who owns and operates a large lumber yard.

Greenle owned and operated the 80 acres where his son Raymond now lives, and also his brother's W.B.'s 80 acres just north of it. Greenle was united in marriage to Miss Barbara Rousch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rousch, and to them was born one daughter, Genevieve, who was united in marriage to David Stewart and now lives in Anderson, Indiana and has four children. His first wife passed away and he was united in marriage to Miss Lucy Swain of Palestine, Illinois, and to them was born a son, Raymond S. Steele and one daughter, Mamie Steele of Palestine, Illinois.

Raymond Steele was united in marriage with one Miss Beulah Siegle of West York, Illinois, and to them was born one son, John Greenle Steele, and one daughter, Mary Mayme Steele, who was united in marriage to David Anderson, and to them were born six children. They live in Palestine, Illinois. He owns and operates the Home of 80 acres and his sister's North 80 acres of what is known as "The Steele Farm".
