Risinger Cemetery

In Section 36 of St. Joseph Township, there was a cemetery known as Risinger. This cemetery is listed as being despoiled in various records in Champaign County. Al Wolfe a long-time resident of Champaign County grew up in the area of this cemetery and mentioned to me that he remembered seeing a Risinger stone while hunting as a teenager. Today, April 28, 2001, I asked him to take me to the area and see if we couldn't locate remains of this cemetery. This is what we found:

We are in the middle of a field and facing east.
The stone is facing the tree.

North of  Eliza's stone about 200 yards was another tree and these foot stones  located. The other two pieces of marble in this picture were blank. The initial are J. R., E. R., and N. E. R.

On the other side of the tree from the foot stones, the base could be seen. Below the base, looks what might be another stone. We did not have tools or a pry bar with us to see if this stone has any markings on it. The base is wedge between the tree and an old fence post. The stone below is broken.
