In size it is about three-fourths of an acre and was deeded April 18, 1871 by Solomon
and Mary Mercer to Elijah, Nelson and Elizabeth Chenoweth and all succeeding heirs for
family burials, although it is said the cemetery was first established by William and
Elizabeth Chenoweth in 1856. It is in Section 16 of Kerr Township, and contains about 25
burials.
