    THEODORE LAUNER, farmer and stock dealer; P.O., Arenzville; was born in Beardstown, this county, May 2, 1842; son of Frederick and Lydia (Marty) Launder, natives of Switzerland. Frederick Launer, who was a clergyman of the Lutheran Church, and the first preacher in this county, was born in 1796 and died in the fall of 1870; his wife, who was born in 1830, died Jan. 4, 1876; they had seven children. Theodore received his education in this county, where he began farming on the homestead place. He afterward learned the carpenter's trade, at which he worked for some time, but has since devoted his attention to farming and dealing in stock. He was married in this county to Louisa, daughter of August and Christiana Krohe, natives of Saxony. From this union seven children have been born: Louis (deceased), Edward (deceased), John (deceased), Oscar, Christiana, Amelia and Lena. Mr. Launer is a member of the Lutheran Church, and in politics is a Democrat.
